REQUIRED ACCESS, TEXTS AND OTHER RESOURCES

- Access to a computer, modem (28.8 is a suggested minimum) and to the Internet through your own Internet Service Provider (ISP) or University account.
- Windows 98 for the PC and OS 9.0 for the Mac are considered a minimum for desktop operating systems.
- It is also recommended that you use one of two browsers: Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape Communicator/Navigator 4.7 or better. They are available free for download from their respective websites.
- For web page design, if you're not interested in learning raw HTML coding, you might want to purchase a WYSIWYG program, i.e., Microsoft's FrontPage , Adobe Pagemill 3.0, Dreamweaver 5.0 or Adobe GoLive 6.0 These range in price from $49 to $150 ( best prices are usually available online) and are available for both Mac and PC. Netscape Communicator 4.7 or better and Internet Explorer 5.0, free to download, also have minimum web page design programs. Lastly, you can easily function in this course simply using Microsoft Word and saving as an HTML document.

It's a wonderful book for PC folks. It describes and shows how to download and utilize free software (Internet Explorer and Front Page Express) and install it on your computer. Lots of pictures and good directions.
