I am a math teacher at West Islip HS and my courses are Math B, all juniors and seniors.

I graduated from SUNY SB with a BS in Mathematics and Secondary Education and I'm now pursuing the advanced certificate in educational computing.I am working towards the advanced certificate in educational computing but am currently non-matriculated and hope to be fully matriculated by the end of the semester.

I'm taking courses online becuase it suits my schedule best. I live about an hour away and the less I have to travel out to SB, the better.

Esposito, Elizabeth

My name is Elizabeth Esposito. (Most people call me Lisa). I have been working as a librarian at Dowling College since September 2003. One of my primary duties as a librarian is working at the Reference Desk, where I assist students and faculty with their research. I am also an instructor. I teach several ?information instruction? sessions throughout the year. These sessions usually are requested by our faculty, and students are brought to a computer lab for hands-on instruction in using library resources to locate books, journal articles, and websites appropriate for their assignments. I have also taught a one-credit course, LIB 1101: Information Literacy. During this semester-long course, students learn to use information technologies to locate, evaluate, and use information from a variety of sources.
Developing information literacy skills is an important part of what we do as librarians. We want our students to do more than just find information; we want them to understand where information comes from, how it is created and disseminated, and make better decisions about how to use it.
I have found our students to be very proficient at using technology (especially computers for word processing and searching the Internet). However, I have also discovered that our students are not very good at selecting appropriate sources of information or carefully evaluating information before using it for their papers. I am curious to know if there is something about the technologies themselves (particularly the search tools) that influences students? decisions. Perhaps if we understand how students perceive the ways information is located and presented, we can better understand how to teach them the important evaluation skills they lack.
My goal for this course, thus, is to understand how information technologies can be used to teach evaluation. Can we librarians move beyond the online ?library information tutorial? to design better resources for teaching? Or, do we need to take several steps back and better understand technologies (and their roles in our society)? Technology is evolving faster than our ability to understand it and use it as an effective tool for teaching, learning, and communicating. I am looking forward to further investigating what technology means for us as teachers, students, and responsible citizens.

I enjoy using technology in the classroom. EST 565 taught me some basics and reviewed some methods that I was already aware of. I am a huge advocate of the integration of technology into the classroom and hope to benefit from this class.

Hi My name is Kathryn Lewkowicz. I am a technology teacher at Newfield High School in Middle Country SD. I am finishing up my MLAS, I transfered from NYIT's instructional technology program so I am waiting on the approval of my 6 credits. So I'm getting there. I love online classes. I have a 2 year old daugher and am expecting my second child in August so it is much easier than going to campus once or twice a week and arranging a sitter.

Hello,
Here is a little history about myself. I had graduated with a BS in Applied Mathematics and Aeronautics. I worked for a couple of years writing software (for mechanical control systems) and then decided to persue a career in teaching. I returned to school and earned teaching certifications in secondary mathematics and physics (there were no graduate teaching programs in place at Stonybrook back then). I have taught Sequential I,II and III at the high school level and AP Computer Science. In between that, I had worked with deaf and blind students in the area of technologies and vocational training. Currently I am working as a teacher integration specialist and working on my masters degree towards my permanent certifications.

Hello everyone. I am Andres Rengifo. I am enrolled in the Master's Degree in Technological Systems Management with a concentration in Educational Computing. I have an engineering degree and have been working with computer network systems and architectures for the past 12 to 13 years mostly in the financial industry.

I also teach at NYU's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, Information Technologies Institute, since 4 years ago both online and onsite for the undergraduate and graduate programs. I bring all my practical knowledge from the industry into the classroom and offer the students a closer look to reality which obviously provides more insight for future professionals.

I am trying to fulfill my long time dream which is to eventually obtaining a Ph.D and teach full time as teaching and academia are really my true passion. I am hoping to work together with all of you throughout this semester.
