The following software titles have been recommended by faculty and students who either use them in their classrooms or know of them by reputation.

    "Starry Night Backyard"

I use this program to teach Astronomy to my kids. It's a great program that uses the internal clock of the computer to show students, in planetarium fashion, what stars and planets will be out that night, or any night at any location and time. The program can be linked to the internet and periodically updated with any new celestial information that may be available such as the dates and locations of meteor showers, comets, etc. It offers a wide variety of activities from field-trips to other stars and plantets, to measuring star distances and angles of altitude, etc.
