MAY CRAFTS

**Handprint Paperweight**
This craft can be done with children as young as 2 years old (younger children will need more assistance).

Supplies Needed

What To Do:Use the rolling pin to flatten ball of clay to one inch thickness. The child should then press hand firmly into clay for a handprint. Use the plastic knife to trim a shape (circle, square, heart etc.) around the handprint. You must allow it to dry completely. Once dry you can paint the handprint paperweight with poster paint.

*Optional
For children who are old enough to write, they can use a pointed tool to write their name and date of the handprint in the clay. Since this project is in May you can also write "Happy Mother's Day" on the paperweight. Allow it to dry completely before painting it with poster paint.

What To Do:
Mix the dry ingredients together in a plastic bowl; then add water gradually. When dough forms a ball around the spoon, knead the dough well, adding water if it is too crumbly. This clay can also be baked at 300 degrees for 30 -40 minutes.
