IMPROVE SELF-ESTEEM IN YOUR CLASS

A child with high self-esteem is a child who will not give up easily and is willing to try new things. This child will succeed. Promoting self-esteem is ongoing. However, with the new school year approaching, many teachers focus on creating a happy, positive environment.

This page is intended to be useful to primary and intermediate teachers and parents. All of the activities are valuable for promoting self esteem. The first activity, provided for the teacher, is a great introduction activity . The rest of the activities will require the children to find interesting information that is related to the curriculum and present it to the class in a meaningful manner. However, because kindergartners, first and second graders are just beginning to read, the activities provided should be directed by the teacher to the whole class. Grades 3-6 can complete the activities after the teacher has modelled the steps the children need to take to complete them. Included are resources, information and links related to self-esteem. I hope this page will help you get off to a great start!
