1. Where/How do I apply?
You can download the application on this website under the "membership" tab. Please complete and print the application online and send it over to the Pre-Health Advising Office in the Melville Library.
2. How do I calculate my cumulative and science GPAs?
Please go to the Academic Advising website:
http://ws.cc.sunysb.edu/aadvising/gpa_calc.shtml
Instructions on how to use the GPA calculator are among those links.Your science GPA only includes all biology, chemistry, and physics classes you've completed. This does NOT include calculus, which is something that science GPAs usually do include. For the purpose of this organization, however, it will not.
3. Do winter and summer sessions count as part of the "3 semesters of college-level work?" What if I am currently enrolled in my third semester?
No, they do not count. You cannot apply for membership until you have fully completed 3 Fall/Spring semesters of college level work, with at least 2 of those semesters being at Stony Brook. If you are currently in your third semester, you cannot apply until you have finished that semester. Applications for membership will be available twice every academic year.
4. What happens if I don't attend enough meetings/complete enough service hours or if I drop my GPA?
Nearing the end of every semester, you will be given a warning if you have not yet completed the requirements. If by the end of the semester you have still not reached the minimum requirements, you will no longer have a membership in Stony Brook's AED chapter. If you still want to be a member, you will have to apply again the following semester.
Alpha Epsilon Delta The Health Preprofessional Honor Society
New York Lambda Chapter is no longer accepting new members for the Spring 2008 semester.
