Pai, the last of a mysterious race of immortals, seeks an ancient supernatural artifact which can change her into a true human being. She enlists the aid of Yakumo Fuji, the son of a noted archaeologist, to help her in her quest. Pai never has a chance to explain to Yakumo exactly how dangerous this quest will be before she is forced to take control of his own immortal soul to keep him from dying at the hands of an overprotective demon.
Their incredible journey for the "Statue of Humanity" takes them from Tokyo to Hong Kong and back again. The powerful artifact, currently in the hands of evil demon worshippers, is the centerpiece of numerous occult rituals and blood sacrifices.

Pai trusts her inner sense and calls forth amazing powers to defeat these foes: "I know who I am, and I know what I must do!" When treasure hunter Jake McDonald steals a curious artifact from a Tibetan temple, he meets Pai, the sole survivor of a mysterious race of immortals called the Sanjhiyan, and her friend Yakumo. They escape a treacherous surprise attack and find refuge at another temple where they meet a strange old priest named Tin Zin. The old priest confirms that the artifact is a key to the Great Gate at Konlong, which leads to other dimensions and will help Pai restore forgotten memories of her divine heritage.
The whole group sets out for Konlong. But when they arrive and open the Gate, Chokai, an evil servant of Kaiyan Wang (lord of darkness and demons) rushes in to destroy it. With Tin Zin's counsel, Pai summons her Sanjhiyan powers and races to stop Chokai. Yakumo follows on the quest, but is it too late?
