The Asian Students Alliance (ASA) at Stony Brook University is a cultural
club that strives to provide a community of fellowship and network for
Asians and Asian Americans within and outside of ASA. ASA puts every
effort towards promoting Asian American awareness through various events,
meetings and networks with other clubs and organizations. Members of ASA
work together to develop educational, social and cultural models to foster
awareness for the Asian and Asian American communities on campus.
Currently, there are seventeen members serving on the cabinet as well as
approximately fifty general body members in ASA. As an organization, ASA
also prides itself in promoting Asian cultural diversity. Seven Asian
countries including China, Korea, Bhutan, India, Burma and Philippines,
are represented on the cabinet alone. Together, ASA hopes to promote its
mission and purpose through various events, including its largest in the
fall semester: a cultural show entitled Asian Night. ASA is also engaged
in various events, community services and co sponsorships throughout the
year so keep a look out for our events!!

Asian Night is an annual event thrown by Asian Students Alliance during the fall semester of each year. It is a gathering of the Asian Community here at Stonybrook to represent all the diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. It is a night of music, dance, and culture with contributions by members of various asian clubs on campus. Asian Night is also know for their guest performances. In past years we have had Elliot Chang (from Comedy Central), Tom Teska (Comedian), and iLL-Literacy (spoken word). Join us this year for Asian Night 2007, watch your fellow classmates perform and see who our guest performer is!

ECAASU 2008
For 30 years, the East Coast Asian Student Union (ECASU) has been one of
the largest unifying forces for Asian Pacific American students on
campuses across the United States. One of the largest completely
student-run Asian organizations in the United States, ECASU was
established to establish the following four principles of unity:
*
Build and strengthen broad democratic Asian and APA student organizations
to serve the social, political, and educational need of Asian and APA
students.
*
Promote the unity of Asians, APA and Eurasians from different
nationalities and backgrounds through greater understanding of the Asian
experience in America.
*
Fight for social, cultural, economic, educational, and political equality
of Asians as an underrepresented group in the United States ofAmerica.
*
Strengthen relations and build coalition between Asians and APAs and other
minorities and all people of color.
