Activities

  1. Meetings
  2. This is an open group, and our meetings are open to the public. Meeting activities include: reading Dharma articles, sitting meditation, walking meditation, and short chanting. There will also be time for participants to talk. Please do not worry if you have little or no experience of meditation. We will provide introductory materials and will do our best to share our experience. Most importantly, all of these activities are open, in the sense that you can come and go as you wish. The meetings are conducted in English.

  3. Study Group
  4. After meditation, something about Dharma is read followed with a brief discussion and sharing.

  5. Events
  6.   Each month, we invite a guest speaker to give us a Dharma lecture or conduct a workshop. Refreshments are served.

  7. Dana Paramita (perfection of giving)
  8. We will actively take part in the activity of helping others. Two things that have been done are:
    • Help new students adjust to the new environment and help those without cars go shopping.
    • Organize fund drives for disaster relief. In prior years, we carried out a fund drive for the flood victims in China (1998), and the starving victims in North Korea (1999).

  9. Occasionally
  10. We organize trips to Buddhist temples and meditation centers.
