Once A Phi Sigma Sigma, Always a Phi Sigma Sigma!

What does it mean to be a Phi Sigma Sigma sister? To some, it means friends with whom to share social or philanthropic activities. To others, it means leadership. Membership includes the development and enhancement of each member through a close union of friends of high character and intelligence woman is immeasurable. During our new membership process you will learn study tips from woman majoring in diverse areas of study, time management, note taking skills, reading strategically and how to prepare for tests successfully. New member activities accomplish several goals such as helping the new members become better acquainted with each other and the sisters. They also help the new members to learn about Phi Sigma Sigma, its organization, traditions and ideals. Help the new members further develop leadership and responsibility. Therefore membership in each chapter shall be determined by performance, educational achievement and criteria related goals and purpose of the fraternity.

Membership is open to all without regard to race, color national origin, age, handicap, disability, ancestry, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation or any other classification. Phi Sigma Sigma believes in new member education - not hazing. The objective of new member education is to make good sisters. New member education should embody the principles of our ritual. Whatever the meaning, being a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma is a privilege each of us is fortunate to share. Phi Sigma Sigma's leaders as they began the first non-sectarian sorority, where woman of different faiths could come together and work toward common goals. The chapter at Stony Brook was chartered on April 30, 1988. Our national philanthropy is the National Kidney Foundation and an Annual Rock-a-Thon is held to raise funds for this foundation.
