Sigma Delta Tau, Beta Phi Chapter, was the first national sorority at
Stony Brook, and is one of more than 50 chapters throughout the nation.
Sigma Delta Tau was founded at Cornell University on March 17, 1917 and on
April 8, 1984 was established at Stony Brook.
The torch is our official badge and it contains six pearls and a diamond.
Our flower is the golden tea rose, our mascot is the teddy bear and our
sorority colors are cafe au lait and old blue. Sigma Delta tau fosters
the personal growth of its members by offering opportunities in leadership,
philanthropy, academics and social interactions. We are not only a
sorority but a family that is committed to one another.
