The horse shoe falls, one of the wonders of the world. Aptly so. Standing under the falls in the evening is one of the most amazing experience. You have to be there to understand. The amazement, the thrill, the power and most of all the beauty. Everything literally drains out of your mind. The only thing that remains is the falls, the spray of the water and the rainbows.
We started on the morning of the 23rd May after shredding all our exam worries and headed towards the falls. The start was little shaky since the Driver decided to follow Indian Standard time instead of us desi's. The delay continued to follow us all throughout. Anyways we finaaaaalllllllyyyyyyy reached at 2.00PM
Being the memorial day weekend there were queues and then there were more queues. When we did ultimately get onto the maid of the mist, we forgot all about the waiting, we forgot all about the long journey, we forgot about exams, basically we forgot about everything. The only thing left was the falls, and I'm repeating myself.
After the maid of the mist it was cave of the winds. Again queue. After the looooooonnnnnnnngggggg wait we got to the cave of the winds. O our timing couldn't have been better for we reached just at the nick of time. There were barely 5 or 10 people let in after us. It was getting dark as we reached the lower levels. Which was the most fabulous thing. The lights came on. The beat of the water, the power of the falls, the lights, we experienced it all standing rite below the falls.
And all too soon the day was over and we checked into the hotel tired and starving. We had dinner and crashed for the night with the lingering effects of the falls.
The next day came sooner than anticipated. With the new day came change in plans. Instead of heading towards 1000 Islands as planned we headed to Corning glass Museum. Glass ornaments, bottles, fibre optic cables, you name it they had it. The highlight there was the live demonstration of glass making. A glass bowl was made from sand right in front of our eyes.
Famished after the knowledge gaining tour of the Museum we headed to a restaurant in downtown Corning. Thali of India had a buffet to die for. Amazing Food and hospitality. The amazing lunch got us another step closer to the end of our journey. Now the only thing left was the bus journey back to Stony Brook. Ghar aana toh nahi tha lekin ghar aana pada.
