The orientation was conducted on two days (August 12th and August 17th) at Chapin Community Center. A 40-minute long powerpoint slides were prepared and presented. The points discussed in the presentation mainly revolved around knowing and understanding the rules and regulations, cooking, fire alarms etc.
On the first day, around 15 new students attended the session. Following the orientation, there was a Q and A session for 5 minutes and then departmental orientations began. Each of them assembled in groups and answered queries related to respective department.
On the second orientation day (August 17th), there were around 50 students who attended and it went on more or less similar lines to the first orientation. The queries were mainly related to bank accounts, use of credit cards, laptops, off-campus housing etc. Nothing particular to apartment or rooms. Contact information were given to students and they were requested to check on the IGSA website for more information.
Many volunteers chipped in during and after orientations, guiding the new students and directing them. Soda were served for both the sessions. Overall, it went more or less, as planned.
