On-Campus Jobs

These are the ones which can get you SSN through which you can apply for driving license and there are many on campus jobs which require it but some are lenient enough to give you jobs without SSN .

1. FSA: (At Stony Brook Union)

One can get list of jobs available and the form is same for many other places. There are very bleak chances to get through it.

2. Seawolves: (At SAC)

There is a gift shop and dining services. The dining services usually do not take Graduate students but one should always try. The gift shop takes good number of people but you need to be there on right time.

3. Library:

There are many libraries on the whole campus. You need to try going and searching at every possible libraries.

4. Campus Residences:

There are seven Quads and you need to go to each Quad office and enquire about it. They usually need people to work in morning and afternoon.

5. Graduate Assistantship:

These are the jobs which are highly paid but due to job cuts only few of them are available.

6. EOP and tutoring jobs:

Many departments are in need of tutors or teaching assistants. You need to find departments by yourself.

7. Gift Shops:

There are gift shops at Hospital and Wang Centre. Lucky ones get the job there.

8. Dining Services: (Jasmine, Kelly Quad, H-Quad)

Jasmine is Asian Restaurant. H-Quad has got a cafeteria and catering services. Kelly Quad has got Mc Donalds, Wendys,etc. They take many people but it is advised that people don't go in groups for asking about the jobs. And need to go many times at a place so that they are sure you will work there and not leave after getting SSN.

9. Staller Arts Center:

They hire many people and it's kind of laborious job but good pay and flexible timings.

10. Clerical Jobs:

There are various other clerical jobs which you can get on SOLAR like in Administration Building, SAC, Union.

11. Web Based Application and Programming Jobs:

There are various such jobs which will be posted on SOLAR and CS people have got advantage here.

12. Sports Complex and Gymnasium:

They hire people for both work related to sports and clerical.

Note:

For any job you need to take Class Schedule and Resume. Give proper Contact information, so that they reach you easily. There are various jobs which are for Federal Work Study students (these are the US citizens), where are ineligible to apply. Be ready to fill out lot of forms which might not be of any use but you might just get one job through it. Most people get the job but one needs to be patient. You can get many job postings on SOLAR (Job Opportunities and search with job code 1971 coz the other one is for work study students). There are very few jobs opened during winter break and spring break but browse through SOLAR for those.
