The 2002 KASCONXVI(Korean American Student Conference) will be held in Denver hosted by Korean American Students at the University of Colorado-Boulder This is the 16th annual conference and the nation's largest and the longest student-run conference in the United States. Last year's conference was hosted by the University of California-Los Angeles and it was simply "Great!!!" Its main focus was to raise awareness of the community and political involvement of Korean Americans and preparation for the professional life after graduating from the college. This year, we will focus on the current issues with the Korean Americans, Career workshops, as well as the Community/political involvement. Some of the possible speakers at KASCONxvi 2002 are; Dr. Paul Shin (Washington State Senator), John Lim (Oregon state Senator), K.W. Lee (professor at the UCLA, 4.29 LA Riot), Courtney Pugh (MTV "rock the vote" program chair), and Young Paik (winner of 1999 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award ), Shinae Chun(highest ranking Korean American in the US government- Department of Labor), Geoffrey Lee (CEO of Premiere Bank), Marcia Yonemoto (Professor at CU-Boulder-Japanese History), Jin Tae Lee(CUB professor - IT), John Cho (Korean American entertainer), and 30 well-known speakers and "successful" Korean Americans. We will also have various night events that will encourage participating students to make friends from all over the states, Canada, and Korea. This is the first time that the conference of this magnitude would be hosted at Denver, Colorado. This event is good opportunity to represent Colorado to the rest of nation and to step up as one of the major city along with active Korean and American in West and East coast cities. The deadline for the registration is March 28th. However, the deadline for special $99 registration fee is Feb. 28th. In March, the registration fee will go up to $119. Three nights and Four days at Five Star hotel with many well known Korean Americans and students all over the states.. $99 is not expensive at all. So, hurry and reserve your spot at the KASCONxvi fast, for $20 dollars less.
