Meeting of 3/4/2004
Dan Panzella gave a talk about putting Linux on the PocketPC line of handheld computers. He came prepared with demos of Familiar and Intimate, and actually did a live install (on someone else's PocketPC) of Opie. After Dan's talk, John did a PXE boot installation of Fedora Core 1 on a friend's tabletPC. We also managed to abuse the projector-screen by playing Frozen Bubble and watching a few episodes of Red vs. Blue. There are pictures below that will make you wish you were there.
This is a shot of Dan giving his very interesting talk on the pocket PC.
Here's a shot of just about everyone who attended the meeting. We really got a pretty good turn out for Dan's talk.
I took a few pictures of the PocketPC running Linux. This shows GPE's file manager.
This is the calendar application bundled with GPE.
What platform would be complete without a version of Tetris?
This is the file manager that comes with the Opie platform. This is the PocketPC that had Linux installed on it at the meeting.
This is a shot of Opie's Draw Pad. I couldn't help myself.
Everyone loves Frozen Bubble. This game is even more addicting when played on a projector.
