About Our Organization

The Materials Science Club has been an integral part of our department for many years now. However, the recent leadership wants to increase the already pre-existing involvement between the student body and the deparment outside the classroom and the labs.

As the first step of this revival in activities we became the student section of the Long Island Chapter of the American Society of Materials (ASM-LI). Some of the joint activites between the professional and the student branch include the attendance to the monthly meetings sponsored by ASM-LI where we discuss topics relevant to the future proffesional engineer and research scientist.

Simply stated, our mission is to help the student. We want to accomplish this in two ways. First, by fostering the academic and professional interest of the students. We will accomplish this by sponsoring the student participation in scientific conferences and industry events. Second, we will continue to organize social events where the student can mingle between themselves and the faculty in a non-academic setting.

Current Officers'

"You learn leadership by being a leader. That's one of the major benefits of serving as an student chapter officer – having the opportunity to learn and sharpen your skills to become a better team member, a better manager, a better leader." - from the ASM site.
