Grucci Fireworks Lecture

On March 4, 2004 Felix Grucci Sr. the father of our very own Felix Grucci Jr. gave a lecture on the chemistry of fireworks.  The event was well attended with an audience consisting of both faculty members and students.  Mr. Grucci discussed his background in the firework industry and how his company grew from a small company started by his great grandfather in 1850 in Italy.  He showed a video of different firework displays by his company which include presidential inaugurations, the Statue of Liberty, and Stony Brook football games.  He also discussed many new advances in firework technology including computer fired fireworks coordinated to music.  Mr. Grucci also explained how fireworks work and give a description of colors produced by different chemicals.
