Dr. Lauterbur
Nobel Prize Laureate

 

 

 

Paul Lauterbur won the 2003 Nobel Prize in chemistry for his researches which lead to the
discovery of MRI.  This research was conducted in Stony Brook in 1973.  Since then Dr.
Lauterbur has taken a research job at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 
Dr. Lauterbur returned to Stony Brook to give his Nobel Address.  As a part of his visit
to Stony Brook, he participated in a meeting with students who asked him questions about
his research and how to succeed in research.
