I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with offices in New York City and Northport, Long Island.

I hold degrees from NYU (MSW, Ehrenkranz Award for outstanding scholarship), Yale (BA, cum laude, with honors) and certification in Psychoanalysis and Comprehensive Psychotherapy from National Institute for the Psychotherapies (NIP), a four-year postgraduate training program in contemporary psychotherapy theory and practice, from whom I received the Educators Award for outstanding scholarly contribution.

Invited speaking engagements include International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP)’s annual conference, National Institute for the Psychotherapies Professional Association's (NIPPA) annual colloquium, and Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (SIPP).

As immediate past Associate Director of the Continuing Education at NIP, I organized and moderated twenty-five advanced professional workshops with many of the country’s most influential analytic thinkers and writers. I have also moderated an international webinar for a psychoanalytic discussion on traumatizing narcissism.

My theoretical and clinical work is published in the journals Psychoanalytic Perspectives and Psychoanalytic Psychology. My paper “Being Railroaded” was nominated by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) for its Gradiva Award and is read in several NYC professional study groups. I continue writing, reading, and studying.

Other affiliations include Editorial Consultant for Psychoanalytic Perspectives and affiliate member of the Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis (SIPP).

Prior to private practice, my experience included providing individual psychotherapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies outpatient clinic; individual and group psychotherapy at an Albert Einstein College of Medicine community-based mental health clinic in the Bronx; and individual and group work at a Harlem elementary school. I work equally well with adults and children, and I also offer couples counseling.

I have a deep background in the arts. The combination of my creative background and my psychological training makes me particularly well-situated to understand and work with the specific set of sensitivities and struggles that artists face. I have carved out a specialty working with performers and theater practitioners, and my practice consists of a number of actors, writers, musicians, singers, comedians. I have worked with performers everywhere on the continuum from those contemplating entering training programs, to those just beginning professional careers, to working actors with regional, stock, Off Broadway, Broadway and touring credits, to Emmy and Tony winners - as well as those pursuing many other career paths.
