There are many things on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge , and the Williamsburg Bridge from Manhattan, and here are just a few that the nostalgia buff should know

Junior's; Where everybody loves the cheescake, and I mean food not babes. It has been a New York Tradition since the 1950s.

Nathan's; Anybody want a hot dog? This is the famous stand of Coney Island with a taste that has stood the time since 1916.

Peter Luger's, that's a place for steak that has been around since 1887. You can buy their famous sauce online here. This is one of the key places in Brooklyn.

Lundy's Clam Bar; They reopened it in the middle 1990s in the same Sheepshead Bay section. They now have a location in Manhattan.

Gage and Tolner's, a whole bunch of others, all gone, just walk down Fulton Street

Astroland Amusement Park; The famous Coney Island Park near the Wonder Wheel, and home to the famous Coney Island Cyclone (Hit the Astroland site for historical information on this famous attraction) It was also the area for other roller coasters. You can also find info about the famous parachute jump. Yes we all know about Steeplechase, and Luna

The Brooklyn Dodgers were the "Bums of Baseball". That's right folks, that schmucky little place called Los Angeles (Kidding) was not where they first started. and they started at this bandbox called Ebbets Field. By the way, they also played in a few World Series, remember 1955

Then again we had many cakes, but the best were supposedly from Ebinger's. These included the famed Blackout Cake. We also sent cake thoughout the world and one company, Entenmann's, still does.

Brooklyn also had a brewing history. For the site I could not find Tromers, I found the history of Schaeffer and Rheingold, but I as for Piels I could only find the owners as they appeared in advertising. But, there is good news, RHEINGOLD'S BACK

We also have the best syrup for an Egg Cream with the Fox Company

We went to theaters like the Pitkin, the Granada, and the Kenmore , of course, the Loew's Kings in memory and pictures, obviously, the Brooklyn Paramount but you can find other Brooklyn Theaters at cinematreasures.org. Hard to believe, there was a drive in theater in the borough called the Broadway.

Brooklyn was also famous for its Doo Wop and Rock and Roll, with groups like Little Anthony and the Imperials.

One must not forget that if it weren't for Brooklyn and its navy yard, we would not have won the war. Some of those reasons are the USS North Carolina, and, the ship where Japan signed the Armistice to end World War II, the Uss Missouri

By the way this is where the first trip to the moon happened while a television bus driver named Ralph spoke to his wife Alice. They were both sort of Honeymooners, and some teacher named Kotter had some trouble with his class

However, there is not an Automat anymore, But you can still go to some of your favoite diners.

Swim with the fishes at the New York Aquarium, or go see the flowers at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

By the way, there is also a place to play in Prospect Park
