Carolin Maria Bosch
Education:
Pre-Diploma of Mechanical Engineering June 2005 at University of Stuttgart, Germany
Previous Research:
Theoprax Project 2006:
It was a cooperation project between university and industry. Errands from industry were given to teams of students. Each errand contained a certain problem for which a solution should be found by using university labs and resources as well as industry facilities. Two other students and I worked on a certain kind of synthetic material. Our errand contained, that we should find a new way to harden the synthetic material in a shorter time and to increase its rigidity by this method. The idea, which resulted from this errand, was to do this by microwave rays. Therefore we designed a suitable microwave field in the lab and did tests of different time, pulsed time, contents of the glue and microwave ray field design. Afterwards we tested the samples by rigidity trials and found through this a method, which is thrice faster than the conventional method.
Competition of Construction and Design 2005:
Each team of students had to come up with a solution for a so far unsolved problem within four month. After having found a lot of possible ideas, we had to compare, test, collect data and in the end build our favoured solution and present it in front of a jury.
