·        Are you interested in helping other people?

·        Dream of becoming a physician?

·        Want to pursue a career in any health science department?

This is the major for you!

Even though Medical and other health professions schools do not require any one specific major, their basic requirements will be fulfilled by majoring in Bio-Premed.

The Biology/Premed major introduces students to the fundamentals of Biology, a thorough introduction to organisms, ecosystems, cellular and molecular biology, and physiology. These courses provide a solid background for students interested in the health professions. Students go on to advanced laboratory work and have the opportunity to specialize in any of several areas, including: developmental genetics, ecology and evolution, environmental biology, and neuroscience.

The Biology Department at Stony Brook University has 4 premedical advisors with many years of experience working with premedical students.  They can recommend programs of study modified for the individual’s interest.   For an appointment call Dr. Bano, Dr. Malik, Dr. McKenna, or Dr. Smith at 631-472-5923.
