Charge Accumulation and Electromagnetic Variation During Periods of Focused Intent (2003-2005)

I worked with Dr. William Joines and Dr. Stephen Baumann in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Duke University on this project which involved electromagnetic phenomena observed and measured in exceptional subjects. The motivation for this research lies in past discoveries dealing with bioluminescence from human bodies. Electromagnetic energy was observed at greater quantities for short period of time in certain subjects who were able to mentally alter their physical states. We were especially interested in a specific form of energy from bioenergy healers. These healer subjects were tested in our laboratory within a photonically and electrically isolated aluminum chamber. A photomultiplier tube and an electrometer with electrodes attached to specific regions on the subject's body were used as a part of this research. Evidence from our experiments indicated that for exceptional subjects, mentally altered states can drastically increase the amount of electromagnetic energy emission from the subject's body. Future work will deal with understanding this phenomena to a point of controlling it for therapeutic purposes.

Termination of Spiral Waves for the Elimination of Ventricular Fibrillation (2005~)

I am currently working with Dr. Emilia Entcheva in the Cardiac Cell Laboratory at Stony Brook in an effort to understand and manipulate the behavior of self-sustaining spiral waves in cardiac tissue. Cardiac arrhythmias can be deadly for patients especially with the onset of Ventricular Fibrillation (VF). VF has been described by the existence of chaotic electrical progagation in the heart. This "chaos" has been shown to result from the initiation and development of spiral waves, which are self-propagating electrical waves with unexcited cores around which the wavefront propagates. There are various theories on the initiation of these spiral waves. The effort here is to understand the behavior of these spiral waves, also termed reentries, and to investigate ways in which to eliminate these waves which will help in the efforts to eliminate the occurrence of VF.
