You walk onto a college campus; what is one item that every student has? A laptop!! Not only has the technology of our phones evolved, but our laptops and so many other electronics has improved in the last 10 years. A few common topics of concern when buying a new laptop is the battery life and portability. Some companies like Microsoft and Lenovo have made a tablet that can turn into a “laptop” with an attachable keyboard. For example, Microsoft has a line of tablet/laptop called “Surface Pro”. The idea of having a tablet turn into a laptop would have been considered crazy and just a dream 20 years ago, but now technology is evolving faster than ever. Below is a chart that shows the evolution of the Surface Pro line. Microsoft even stressed how easy the switch from Macbook to Surface is.

The Surface Book comes with a detachable keyboard. In addition, the thickness also increases as you move from the front to the back. There is a magnetic pen avalible that will stick to the tablet so it will be more difficult to lose.

Now, one of the most well-known laptop is the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. There has been many storms and articles on the internet about the Surface Book being comparable, heck maybe even better, than the MacBook Pro. Let's compare the two laptops

The Suface Book thickness increases as it goes towards the end of the table because of the detachable keyboard. The tablet alone though would be thinner than the Macbook Pro. According to LaptopMag the Surface Book and Macbook Pro are almost on equal ground with each other. Below is the complied table of the winner of each category.

Trusted Reviews gave a thorough walk through and comparison of the specifications of the two laptops.

AUDIO AND CAMERA: The MacBook Pro has better audio output of the two laptops, with more volume and clarity than the Surface Book did. Although the Surface Book has an extra camera, the MacBook Pro delivers sharper selfies and superior audio.

BATTERY LIFE: The Surface Book lasts a whopping 12 hours and 30 min, while the MacBook pro lasts 12 hours. Although there is only a half an hour difference, the Surface Book wins.

DISPLAY: The Surface Book tops the MacBook Pro in color representation and accuracy by having sharper images.

VALUE: Although the Surface Book has more versatility with its detachable keyboard that you have to purchase separately, but the MacBook Pro has a more affordable starting price.
