Exams: Please pay careful attention to the details here. There will be two evening exams, scheduled by the registrar, and a final exam during the regular final exam period. Attendance is mandatory for all exams and make-up exams will not be given for any circumstances. Resolve all conflicts with evening classes and/or employment obligations now, not later. The dates of the exams are as follows:
The location of each exam will be announced in your lecture.

Course Description: MAP 103 is a non-credit course designed to give students the prerequisite knowledge in algebra needed to succeed in subsequent MAT, AMS, PHY, CHE, and BIO courses. Enrollment in MAP 103 requires a score of 2 on the math placement exam. This course covers the basic notions of linear equations and functions (along with their graphs), the concepts of relation and function, solving linear equations and small systems of linear equations, introduces polynomial functions, factoring non-linear expressions, solving non-linear equations by factoring, dealing with complex fractions and radicals, and ends with an introduction to the exponential and logarithmic functions.
Textbook: Intermediate Algebra, 3ed, by Elayn Martin-Gay, 2007. Please be sure to purchase the correct book as there are many and confusing variations of the book. The book’s cover has a picture of a pear on it. Homework will be assigned mainly from the textbook, so it is important that you buy a copy.
Grading Scheme: There are four major components of your grade:
