I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Stony Brook University with concentrations in American politics, political economy, and political methodology. My research interests include judicial politics, Congressional politics and elections, and American political institutions. My dissertation examines inter-institutional interactions between the US Supreme Court and the US Congress and investigates how and to what degree Supreme Court opinions can affect and influence the content of congressional policy and hearings. I am also working on projects dealing with the renewed influence of party pressure on certain types of votes in Congress and how times of war affect judicial behavior.

I graduated from Carleton College (Northfield, MN) in 2001 and worked for U.S. Senator Richard J. Durbin (IL) until returning to academia. Originally from Chicago, I am avid sports fan, miss deep dish pizza, and have had my heart broken by the Cubs numerous times.
