The final project I did for my EST 100 class is a frame by frame animation using Adobe Flash. I decided to have a little story for my animation which I call "Magic Ball." This magic ball bounces into and out of a volcanic eruption without even a tiny scratch.
There were sevral techniques and elements I used to produce my animation. I actually drew out my entire story on Flash. I had first used MS Paint but found that more difficult to draw in than Flash. Each element in my animation was placed in a different layer. I did this so that my animation was smooth and organized. In total I had fifteen layers.
In order to write the title 'Magic Ball' I used classic tweening and then rotated and skewed each letter separtely so it looked like the words fell on to the page. I wrote out the ending using a paintbrush from FLash.
The other area I used tweening was when the sky faded to different colors. I thought the sky change would add a dramatic effect to my whole animation. I used shape tweening to get the sky to go from light blue to dark grey first and then from dark grey to light blue. I also used shape tweeing at the very ended when my animation faded out into white.
Every other movement, such as the bouncing ball and the volcanic eruption was made by inserting key frames. For each keyframe I either skewed the object or just simply moved it to another position.
I definitely had the most fun making this animation. I wanted to get really creative with my story and not just make it a simple cartoon. If I had more time I would try to make my entire animation more smooth and maybe add more elements to the plotline in general.
