In recent years, Sony and Microsoft dominate the game console market share. Before the end of 2016, Sony has sold more than 49 million PS4s globally, including about 2.5 million PlayStation 4 Pros (Gaudiosi 5). The No.2, Microsoft, was expected to have 24 million Xbox One units sold worldwide by the end of last year (Gaudiosi 9). However, Nintendo was forecasted to have just 14 million systems installed all over the world by the end of 2016 (Gaudiosi 12). To bring more innovative products and become more competitive, the company transitions to its new home gaming platform, known as Switch, which is just launched on March 3, 2017. Will the Switch be able to rescue Nintendo’s market share? Let’s take a closer look at the Nintendo Switch.
One of the key selling points of the Switch is “Play anywhere”. The Nintendo Switch not only can be docked to enjoy gaming on TV, but also are capable of undocking to transition into handheld mode. Because the Nintendo Switch console is matched with a pair of controllers, dubbed Joy-Con. The Joy-Cons could be attached seamlessly to the side of the Switch console. It makes the Switch so portable that players are able to enjoy games anywhere they want.

The Joy-Con Grip, as an alternative option, can combine the left and right Joy-Con into one big controller. So if you prefer traditional controller, you could use Joy-Con Grip, while flipping the stand at the back of the Switch and put it on any platform, which gives gaming more flexibility.

Since sensors, such as accelerometer, gyroscope and motion IR camera are configured in a Joy-Con, games needed motion controls are easy to play. Also player is able to compete with others by using a single Joy-Con and giving the other to a friend.
Another strong feature, that deserves to be mentioned, is the Switch supports both playing with online gamers and linking up with at most eight systems to play together. Gaming is about sharing. People will have more fun if they can play anytime with your friends.
