Rush
Some
people know joining a sorority is for them, others don't have time
or think it isn't their thing. Rush takes place during the first
few weeks of a semester and is a time when potential sisters can
look into what sorority is best for them. It is up to you to decide
if joining a sorority is right for you, but here are some important
questions to think about:
Do you
want to make new friends? Stony Brook is a huge school, and if you
didn't come here with friends, it can be hard to make new ones.
By joining a sorority you are also joining the Greek community,
which is made up of all the fraternities and sororities on campus.
Even if you do have friends here, this is a way of expanding your
inner circle and meeting different types of people.
Do you
want to develop leadership skills? Greek organizations can help
strengthen their member's teamwork, time management, motivation,
public speaking and organization skills. As a sorority, we are also
highly involved in campus activities, such as sponsoring workshops,
making a float for Homecoming and participating in Greek Week. Individually,
our sisters are also members of many other organizations on campus.
The sisters
of Epsilon Sigma Phi would like to formally welcome you to consider
joining our sisterhood this Spring 2006. Keep checking back for
our Rush schedule, which will have different events at which you
will have an opportunity to meet and get to know our sisters.
