WHAT IS AN INSTRUCTIONAL COMPUTING HELP DESK STUDENT CONSULTANT?

When you call the Main Library SINC Site at 631.632.9602 for help with a computing problem, the first person you talk to is an Instructional Computing (IC) Help Desk Student Consultant.

The IC Help Desk Student Consultants are an extremely diverse group full of thinkers, doers and leaders. They are a select group of undergraduate students trained to assist Stony Brook students with account problems on the following information systems: the student email system, Sparky (UNIX), the online courseware system, Blackboard, the academic system, SOLAR and the student storage system, the SB Drive.

In addition, their responsibilities include creating documentation and designing instructional web pages to support Stony Brook students with various computer applications such as: Microsoft Office, Roxio Easy CD Creator, and Macromedia Dreamweaver.
