Welcome to the main webpage for PHY 142 Spring 2015!

This course is the Honor's version of Classical Physics course. The topics covered will be the same as in PHY132, but if you choose to take this course you should expect to be challenged. We will be going in to greater depth, calculus will be used extensively, and significant effort will be required outside of classes and recitations.

The class group will be the same for lecture and recitations and we will meet in the following times and places.

  • Lectures - Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12:00 PM - 12:53 PM Physics P112
  • Recitation - Tuesday 10:00AM - 11:20 AM Physics P112

You should read the course syllabus carefully as it contains all the important information about the organization of the course.

Attendance at all class meetings is expected and will help you get most out of this challenging course. As mentioned in the syllabus, there will be one exam-style problem in many of the recitation sessions. In addition, there will be one or two concept questions in the exams that might refer to a demonstration in class.

The following link is the place to find the lecture notes; updates will occur each weekend.

We will be using the Mastering Physics homework system. This semester the course code is MPKUMAR75489.

The Course calendar contains all the important dates for the semester.
